Saratoga Partners, founded in 1984 as the corporate buyout group of Dillon, Read & Co. Inc., is one of the industry’s most experienced firms having lead buyout investments in 33 companies with an aggregate acquisition value in excess of $3.7 billion across economic, market and interest rate cycles. Saratoga Partners has managed partnerships with more than $750 million in committed and invested capital pursuing private equity investments in enterprises valued between $50 and $400 million. Prominent portfolio companies include Viking Office Products, Koppers Industries, Advanced Lighting, Data Return, CapMAC, and Formica Corporation. In 1998, Saratoga Partners spun out as an independent entity owned by its management following the acquisition of Dillon Read by Swiss Bank Corporation (a predecessor to UBS AG).
Leading Saratoga Partners are former Dillon Read Chairman John P. Birkelund, Charles P. Durkin, Jr. and Christian L. Oberbeck, who had been the Dillon Read Managing Directors in charge of the prior Saratoga funds. Other Partners include Charles G. Phillips IV and Richard A. Petrocelli continuing from Saratoga's prior funds. Saratoga’s offices are located at 535 Madison Avenue in New York City.
